Meanwhile we visit clients for one-off courses at their own premises.

Our speaker has many years of experience of delivering training and managing licensed retail operations. He first delivered the personal licence holder’s qualification in 2006.   He was previously a manager with a national pub chain and was general manager of a hotel.

This HABC accredited qualification is for those aged 18 years+ working in or preparing to work in any industry that involves the retail sale of alcohol. It is a requirement for anyone who wishes to hold a personal licence. This qualification covers the main requirements of the Licensing Act 2003 and the legal responsibilities of a personal licence holder. Anyone wishing to authorise the sale of alcohol by retail on licensed premises must hold a personal licence. Subjects covered include purpose and period of validity of a personal licence, the application process and legal duties of a personal licence and licensing law.

You will be sent the Highfield workbook the week before the course, which you will find beneficial to complete in your own time.  You then come to see us for the 1-day session and take the multiple-choice official APLH exam.

If you are currently working in licensed premises, it will help your learning if you read the premises licence – particularly the operating schedule – before you attend the course.

The fee includes all course materials along with the Awarding Body learner registration and examination fee. Lunch is included (let us know about special requirements).

The qualification is assessed through a one-hour, 40-question multiple-choice examination. Candidates must score at least 28/40 in order to pass. Please let us know in advance if you have any special assessment requirements, for instance if you are dyslexic or visually impaired, and require us to make any reasonable adjustments to the examination.
Successful candidates will receive their official Level 2 Award for Personal Licence Holders certificate normally within 2 weeks of sitting the exam. You will then be able to apply for your Personal Licence subject to certain criteria.

Please bring with you original photographic proof of identification to show the exam invigilator – a photo driving licence or passport is ideal. You will not be able to sit the exam without it.
